Contractors All Risk Insurance

Contractors All Risk

Our annual Contractors All Risks policy insures contractors for all works they undertake. The policy can cover anyone from a small general builder or specialist contractor to a large commercial house builder or property developer. It covers contracts undertaken by the contractor up to the limit chosen by them and stated in the policy schedule.

Contractors All Risks insurance offers cover for your materials, equipment, tools and building works, as well as protection for third-party injury or damage claims by those you work with.

Focus areas

Chubb’s Contractors All Risks insurance covers you for moments and issues like these:

Theft of plant and equipment

Other policies might not cover theft or damage if equipment is not kept in certain conditions, i.e stored in locked facilities/compound. But Chubb’s policy doesn’t demand security warranties, so you’ll be covered if something is stolen, even if it’s in transit or being stored off site.

Construction issues

You’re covered if, for example, a sub-contractor doesn’t follow agreed working procedures, leading to equipment failure that damages a structure being worked on.

Our policy also offers broad cover and a wide appetite for trade, size and complexity of risk and includes the following sections of cover:

  • Contract works and materials
  • Plant owned
  • Plant hired
  • Continuing hire charges
  • Personal effects
  • Other property

Contractors All Risks (CAR) policies cover bricks and mortar style civil and building risks while Erection All Risks (EAR) policies cover the installation of electrical and mechanical machinery. For a CAR policy the major perils are fire (including malicious arson), storm, flood, escape of water from fixed installations and temporary water supplies, theft of materials and accidental damage. For an EAR policy the major peril is damage due to breakdown and/or explosion during testing.

Yes, this is automatically included in the policy wording.

Yes. Subject to certain underwriting criteria, the policy can include a 30 day hold covered facility during which time the policyholder must provide full details to enable us to underwrite and rate the 6.5.1 risk.
