Chubb has completed the acquisition of Cigna’s personal accident, supplemental health and life insurance business in Hong Kong. Chubb now has even more talented people, innovative products and quality service to offer.

Chubb’s acquisition of Cigna’s life and non-life insurance companies in Asia-Pacific that house their personal accident and supplemental health (A&H) and life insurance business advances Chubb’s strategy to expand its presence in the Asia-Pacific region, a key growth market for the company. The addition of these businesses will add to Chubb’s already strong presence in both general and life insurance in the region and enhance its product and service capabilities to better meet the growing needs of customers and distribution partners in this part of the world.

Upon completion of the transaction, Asia-Pacific’s share of Chubb’s global portfolio will increase from approximately $4 billion to $7 billion in premium and represent approximately 18% of the company. Together, A&H and life insurance will comprise 20% of the company’s overall premium revenue compared to 13% today.

Chubb’s acquisition of Cigna’s life and non-life companies in Asia-Pacific will enhance the company’s competitive profile and its ability to make greater investments in technology, products, services and people. In the short term, the focus will be on ensuring continued excellent customer satisfaction, sustaining and developing business growth, serving distribution partners and their clients well, along with retaining top talent in the region. In the long term, the goal is to be the go-to insurer in the Asia-Pacific region with exceptional balance sheet strength and a broad range of products to meet diverse consumer needs, all backed by superior service – the distinguishing hallmark of Chubb.  

The company name of Cigna Worldwide Life Insurance Company Limited have been changed to Chubb Life Insurance Hong Kong Limited (“CLIHK”). 

We start using the new company name from November 1, 2022. 

The renaming and rebranding of the company will not have any  impact on existing customers’ policies and their policy provisions.  All existing customers of Chubb Life Insurance HK (“CLIHK”, formerly known as Cigna Life) will continue to receive the protection, benefits and services in accordance with the policy provisions and all existing policies’ contractual obligations will continue to be honored by CLIHK.

Cigna Worldwide Life Insurance Company Limited has been renamed as Chubb Life Insurance Hong Kong Limited (“CLIHK”).

 

For non-Health products under CLIHK:

·        “Cigna” in all product names has been deleted. Please refer to https://bit.ly/3RSAuL1 for the new product names.

·        <For ILAS policyholders only> “Cigna” in all names of investment choices (i.e. fund) has been replaced by “Chubb”. Please refer to https://bit.ly/3MqTFu9 for the new fund names.

·        The change of company name will not affect your policy. We will continue to fulfill our commitment and to provide you with exemplary products and services.

·        Policyholders will receive an Endorsement to the policy about the change of company name and product name.

 

For Health products under CLIHK:

·        “Cigna” in all product names has been deleted. Please refer to https://bit.ly/3RSAuL1 for the new product names.

·        Policyholders will receive an updated policy document upon policy renewal falling on or after November 1, 2022. 

No. Customers do not need to sign a new policy or set up new direct debit authorization account due to the change of company name.

·        Chubb completed the acquisition of Cigna Worldwide Life Insurance Company Limited’s personal accident, supplemental health and life insurance business in Hong Kong on July 1, 2022. The acquired company will be called Chubb Life Insurance Hong Kong Limited (“CLIHK”) from November 1, 2022.

·        Customers do not need to set up a new direct debit authorisation account due to the change of company name. 

Effective from November 1, 2022, cheque should be made payable to :

New bank payee details will be updated and shown on payment instruction notice to be mailed to policyholders accordingly.

The transaction will not affect business or customer relationships with the Chubb Life Insurance HK (“CLIHK”, formerly known as Cigna Life) or Chubb operations. It should be business as usual for all Chubb and CLIHK agents and brokers. Distribution partners and their customers will continue to receive the same superior service and attention to detail all have come to expect from Chubb and CLIHK. Distribution partners will receive further updates, as events warrant, in the future.

With Cigna’s personal accident, supplemental health and life insurance business now part of Chubb, policyholders will continue to receive quality insurance coverage and the highest standard of claims and customer service that they have come to expect. With our combined strength, Chubb is in an even better position to help agents, brokers and partners serve customers by offering a broader portfolio of quality products and great service. 

With Cigna’s personal accident, supplemental health and life insurance business in Asia-Pacific now part of Chubb, customers can expect even more talented people, innovative products and quality service. No.  You can follow the existing procedure to file the claim to us and the product name change would not impact the policy terms and conditions as well as the policy coverage.  

Policyholders of non-Health products under Chubb Life Insurance HK (“CLIHK”, formerly known as Cigna Life) :

If you only hold policy(ies) with CLIHK, Cigna will no longer keep the related information of you and your policy(ies).

 

Policyholders of Health products under CLIHK:

We are in the process of updating the customer correspondences.  While it will take some time to complete the whole process, during the interim period, you may still see the Cigna logo but there is no connection with Chubb Life Insurance Hong Kong Limited.
