2022
Chubb’s 2022 Regional Day of Service was held from 7-12 November in Hong Kong. Chubb’s General and Life insurance joined hands with our long-term partner St. James Settlement and a new partner Junior Achievement Hong Kong to arrange several activities to service the community in which we live and operate in.
Hoi Ha Wan Marine Life Centre
Our volunteers accompanied 18 children from St. James to the Hoi Ha Wan Marine Life Centre, where they learnt about ocean conservation and took part in a guided cruise on a glass-bottom boat.
Rice packing
Together we packed over 1,100 kg of rice into smaller portions for distribution to over 560 families supported by St. James.
Youth Smart Finance Workshop
Together with staff volunteers from DBS Bank Hong Kong, we conducted a series of financial literacy workshops to approximately 200 secondary students from five schools in collaboration with Junior Achievement Hong Kong. This programme also marks Chubb Insurance’s 5th year of partnership with DBS.
2021
Regional Day of Service (RDS) 2021 was held in November 2021. Chubb’s Life and General Insurance in Hong Kong joined hands with Hong Kong Cleanup and St. James’ Creation to organize two volunteering activities.
Beach Cleanup Challenge
Our Beach Cleanup Challenge was successfully held in Shek O beach! Throughout our collective cleanup, we saved the ocean from a ton of trash. Some of the most common items we picked up were fishing gear, plastic straws, snack wrappers, bottle caps, pieces of glass, cans and much more.
“A Cup for Someone” ceramic workshop
Our volunteers joined a ceramic workshop coached by the rehabilitation members of St. James’s Creation. In the workshop, we got the chance to interact with them and learnt how to create and craft a beautiful ceramic cup from sketch. After the workshop, St. James will deliver our RDS gifts to the underprivileged children on behalf of Chubb.
2020
Chubb’s Regional Day of Service (RDS) 2020 was successfully held in November. With the theme of “Education@Heart”, Chubb’s life and general insurance operations in Hong Kong joined hands with St. James’ Settlement Jockey Club Upcycling Center to organize Wallpaper Cardholder and Fabric Mask Cover Workshops on 4 and 6 November 2020 respectively.
After the workshops, the finished products by our volunteers and RDS souvenirs were delivered to underprivileged children, showing our love and support to them during these challenging times. The workshops were a fun experience which encouraged volunteers’ creativity and let volunteers appreciate how everyone can play a part to reuse materials for its next use and even turn them into beautiful essential items.
The RDS has been held since 2012, which reflects Chubb’s firm belief that positive contributions to communities will bring long-lasting benefits to society and the company’s employees and business.
