Andrew Webster has built a 30-year career by backing big ambitions. So when Chubb Life CEO Paula ter Brake outlined her plans to build New Zealand's number one life insurance company, he wanted to be part of it.
"The thing that really appealed was the aspiration around growth. To be number one really resonates with me. It's about creating success through digital transformation, focus on the customer, and a real focus on how important the IFA channel is," he says.
Andrew joins Chubb Life as the new Chief Growth Officer, responsible for all of the company's distribution channels. He brings more than 30 years' experience in financial services to the role. In senior positions at ANZ, he managed the bank's life insurance delivery and relationships with mortgage brokers - experience that has made him a strong advocate for the value of Independent Advisers.
"I know IFAs want to spend time with their customers, not doing our paperwork. So an early focus for me will be making sure our Adviser-facing team is doing as much as we can to remove that friction," he says.
Outside of work, Andrew is a committed petrolhead with a long history of owning American muscle cars. The current pride of his North Shore garage is a shiny 2019 Dodge Challenger. He admits to checking Trade Me daily, but so far has resisted adding to his collection. He also enjoys travelling, and recently returned from three months with his wife touring twelve countries in Europe - a sabbatical that's left him energised for the challenge ahead.
After decades in leadership, he says what drives him most is his people.
“I get a lot of satisfaction from seeing people and businesses succeed and this is where the Chubb Life team and I are committed to supporting you to protect and grow your business"
