The third and final Chubby Championship has concluded with great success.
Held as part of our Daffodil Day fundraising efforts, the event raised $2,310. While the competition isn’t glamorous, the cause is a worthy one.
Daffodil Day raises funds and awareness for cancer research and support services. The Cancer Society research is vital to help finding cures and improving outcomes for the approximately 27,000 New Zealanders diagnosed with cancer each year.
As usual the competition did not disappoint, with fierce rivalry from each team. This year, the event evolved to include a high-stakes head-to-head in Christchurch and Wellington offices between ANZ and Chubb Life teams. There were certainly participants who certainly put their mouths where the money was.
The competition took place on Thursday, 24th July at 12:30pm across Christchurch, Ashburton, Dunedin, Invercargill, and via VC. Five teams, each consisting of two males and two females, participated:
The collective team challenge included a race to eat McDonald’s combos with a special “Time Advantage Bonus” awarded to the team because they had the most votes, gaining them a 15-second head start.
After an entertaining competition, the team that finished the quickest and claimed the title of the ultimate 2025 Chubby Champion was Southland, completing the challenge in .
