Chubb Life Actuarial Scholarship 2025

Celebrating a decade of fostering insurance talent

We’re passionate about supporting and inspiring the next generation of insurance talent.

For the past decade, we’ve presented the Chubb Life Actuarial Scholarship in partnership with Victoria University of Wellington, the only university in New Zealand that offers actuarial science.

This programme provides talented actuarial studies students hands-on experience at Chubb Life NZ as well as a $5,000 prize to support their studies.

This year’s winner, Danielle Bernacchi, was chosen for her passion for actuarial science and commitment to excellence.

A self-confessed ‘numbers person’, Danielle is fascinated by the practical outcomes of the insurance industry.

“What drew me to actuarial science was being able to see the practical outcomes of our work,” said Danielle, “it’s really rewarding to see the real-world applications of the skills and knowledge, especially when they help individuals make informed decisions about managing risk and planning for the future.”

Our Chief Actuary, Lee-Ann Du Toit was delighted to present the award to Danielle and says the scholarship is an important way to promote our industry.

“The Chubb Life Actuarial Scholarship is one of the ways we support young people to learn more about what is a lesser known, but vital role in the insurance industry,” said Lee-Ann.

“We were the first insurer in New Zealand to offer this award for students and it’s heartening to see each of the previous winners excel in their careers.”

“We are immensely proud of the legacy we have built through the programme, and we look forward to supporting actuarial science students, like Danielle, for years to come.”
