$200 voucher winners announced

We asked our Insurance Advisers to nominate ANZ Frontline staff members who demonstrate an understanding of the importance of a good protect conversation with their customers through the quality of the referrals they send, processes they follow or the way they communicate.

We’re excited to announce the winners of the ANZ NewsChubb $200 vouchers:

Kelly O'Neill - Home Loan Manager Napier/ Hastings Branch

Kelly actively fosters a culture where personal protection is considered an essential part of every home lending conversation, rather than a topic raised only when a need is obvious. She consistently reinforces with her team the importance of asking the right questions and making protection referrals, particularly when customers are taking on significant debt and need support to protect their ability to meet future commitments.

What stands out is her leadership by example. Kelly regularly checks in on protection conversations and referrals, encourages bankers to build confidence in raising the topic, and provides coaching and follow-up to strengthen capability. By embedding protection into the team’s everyday customer journey, rather than treating it as a separate discussion, Kelly is creating better customer outcomes and driving meaningful insurance referrals.

This is a behaviour that other ANZ leaders could readily replicate by consistently reinforcing the value of protection, recognising strong referrals, and helping their teams become more comfortable having these important conversations.

Danielle Atkinson - Senior Personal Banker ANZ Christchurch City Branch

Danielle demonstrates a genuine passion for insurance protection and consistently highlights its importance to her clients in a proactive, thoughtful, and client-focused way. She has strong, engaging conversations that reflect both confidence and professionalism, helping customers better understand the value of protection in the home lending journey.

She also generously shares her knowledge and practical tips with her team, helping to uplift, influence, and support those around her. Danielle’s approach is a great example of how home lenders can create positive customer outcomes while also building capability and confidence within their teams.

Ricky Wrightwebb - Banking Consultant Warkworth Branch

Ricky has a natural ability to connect with customers on a personal level, and this is a key reason for her continued success. She takes the time to understand each customer's individual circumstances, whether it is their job, family situation, or mortgage needs, and uses these insights to create genuine and meaningful conversations. Her authentic approach helps customers feel comfortable, valued, and understood.

One of Ricky's strengths is how she positions our services in a way that reassures customers. For example, she often uses the phrase, "Our in-house specialist will get in touch with you," which creates confidence and reinforces that there is a dedicated team ready to support them. This simple but effective approach helps build trust and enhances the overall customer experience.

A particularly impressive observation was how Ricky engages with customers purchasing their first home. She warmly congratulates them by saying, "Congratulations on your first home, that's very exciting," which immediately establishes a personal connection and allows her to celebrate an important milestone with them. Once that rapport is established, she naturally transitions into discussing mortgage protection and cover options, ensuring customers understand the value of protecting their new investment.
