Get to know Janet Alapatt

Can you tell us about how you became an Insurance Adviser?

Being an Insurance Adviser never crossed my mind five years ago, however, in my previous role I was a Systems, Process and Product Trainer and experienced different aspects of the industry. My interest from there on in grew and after two years in the training role I wanted to attain my Level Five certification. Luckily, I was given an opportunity to join Cigna at that time and I have really enjoyed my work from there on in.
 

What’s the best part of your job?

For me, the best part of my role is meeting new people, helping customers and working with the ANZ team. We’re building long term relationships, and as much as I get thrilled to write cover for an individual or family, when I experience a customer claim and what a difference it makes to their lives, I get a lot of satisfaction, knowing that I am doing the right thing.
 

Why have you been looking forward to coming back to work?

I think that because my role that I am in is something that I love, it’s easy to get up in the morning and get off to work. I always have a desire to learn more and continuously understand better ways in which help get New Zealanders the protection they need.
