The haze is upon us!

According to the Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), the haze in the country is expected to persist due to the southwest monsoon winds.

While it is advisable not to drive when visibility is low, there might be situations that require you to drive regardless of the weather. As the haze condition in Malaysia can vary in a matter of hours from moderate to bad, here are some safety tips to better prepare yourself while you are on the road.

Check all your car lights

  • Functional car lights do not only help light your path, but also help others to see you better.

Make use of your fog lamps

  • The fog lamp lights are considerably more noticeable and can travel further in distance when compared to low-beam headlights.

Give your high beam a rest

  • Avoid using high beam headlights as it doesn’t really help in hazy conditions but hinder other drivers’ vision.

Keep steady speed and distance

  • It is never fun to hit someone’s car or when others hit your car. Keep a steady speed and distance to allow yourself and others more time to react during emergency.

Ensure you and your car are adequately insured

  • Well, accidents happen no matter how careful you are. So, make sure you and your car are adequately insured before embarking on a journey.
