Privacy Policy and Purpose Statement

Chubb Insurance Singapore Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”, “Chubb”, “the Company”) sets out this Privacy Notice to describe how Chubb handles Personal Data about you which we collect in connection with the services we provide, in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (“PDPA”) and our own policies and procedures. To the extent any Personal Data is collected through cookies, this Privacy Notice will supplement, and is to be read in conjunction with, the Cookie Notice.

“Personal Data” means data, whether true or not, about an individual who can be identified (a) from that data or (b) from that data and other information to which the organisation has or is likely to have access

Chubb will collect, use, and disclose your Personal Data to the extent necessary for one or more of the purposes as prescribed in this Notice.

Chubb collects your personal data (which may include health information) when you:

1. apply for, change, or renew an insurance policy with us
2. access and use the Chubb website and/or other online services
3. apply for a claim
4. use any other services by Chubb, its third-party service providers, or business partners

We may also collect Personal Data, from sources other than yourself and thereafter using, disclosing and/or processing such Personal Data for one or more of the prescribed Purposes.

Chubb will collect, use, disclose and/or process your personal data for and in connection with one or more of the following purposes:

1. considering whether to provide you with the insurance you applied for
2. processing your application for underwriting and insurance
3. administering and/or managing your relationship, account and/or policy with Chubb
4. processing and/or dealing with any claims including the settlement of claims and any necessary investigations relating to the claims, under your policy
5. carrying out due diligence or other screening activities (including background checks) in accordance with legal or regulatory obligations or risk management procedures that may be required by law or that may have been put in place by Chubb
6. carrying out your instructions or responding to any enquiries by you
7. dealing in any matters relating to the services and/or products which you are entitled to under the policy which you are applying for or have applied; (including the mailing of correspondence, statements, invoices, reports or notices to you, which could involve disclosure of certain personal data about you to bring about delivery of the same as well as on the external cover of envelopes/mail packages)
8. investigating fraud, misconduct, any unlawful action, or omission, whether relating to your application, your claims or any other matter relating to your policy, and whether there is any suspicion of the aforementioned
9. complying with applicable law in administering and managing your relationship with Chubb
10. sending you offers or information regarding our products and services that may be of interest to you
11. compiling statistics or industry exercise and studies, to improve or identify products and services that Chubb believes may be of interest to you
12. assessing, processing any application from our Career Site/ Independent Distribution Partner Site
13. compliance monitoring and audit reviews; and/or
14. archiving, backing-up

(collectively the “Purposes”)

To the extent necessary for one or more of the purposes as prescribed in this Notice, Chubb may disclose your Personal Data to parties such as but not limited to:

1. Actuaries
2. Business Partners
3. Call Centres
4. Claims Investigators
5. Claims Handlers
6. Loss Adjusters
7. Third Party Vendors engaged by Chubb to store and maintain our records, including storage for business recovery purposes
8. Professional Advisors such as lawyers, legal advisors, doctors, and other medical service providers
9. Related company or regional office, head office to comply with company policies and procedures or upon their valid request
   

Some of which may be sited outside of Singapore.

By purchasing Chubb’s insurance products, you:

1. consent to Chubb collecting, using, disclosing and/or processing your personal data for the Purposes as described above;
2. consent to Chubb collecting personal data about you from sources other than yourself and using, disclosing and/or processing the same, for one or more of the Purposes as described above;
3. consent to Chubb disclosing your personal data to its third party service providers, or agents for the Purposes as described above; and
4. consent to Chubb transferring your personal data to its third party service providers, or agents where such third party service providers or agents are sited, whether in Singapore or outside of Singapore, for the Purposes as described above.

Where there is a relevant legal exemption that applies to the way in which Chubb collects, use, and disclose your personal data, Chubb reserves the right to rely on such exemption only if and to the extent it is necessary to do so for one or more of the prescribed purposes set out in the PDPA.

Your consent for Chubb to collect, use, and disclose your Personal Data will remain valid until the withdrawal of such consent by you through the mean(s) as prescribed in the Data Protection Policy.

Withdrawal of consent may prevent Chubb from preforming our services. Which may in turn, depending on your circumstance, adversely affect you.

You may exercise your rights to access and/or correct your Personal Data in accordance to the PDPA through the mean(s) as prescribed in the Data Protection Policy.

Chubb may charge you a minimum fee for access to your Personal Data to offset the administrative costs in complying with such requests.
