Every year, teams from six US universities are chosen to participate in CONNECT, SOFA’s annual student competition, highlighting top design programs in the country. Their projects are exhibited throughout the show, giving SOFA’s international audience an opportunity to experience the innovation and creativity of future designers.
Purdue's industrial design team, made up of both graduate and undergraduate students, was chosen as the winner of the competition for the second year in a row. Purdue’s team designed a space consisting of a lattice made of branches and twigs that were connected with 3D printed joints. The space also included benches and lamps to create an inviting atmosphere.
McKayla Barber, Andrew Hu, Marshall Ma, Sam Bucciferro, Zack Hellman, Evan Brown, Hannah Ferrill
CONNECT is an incredible opportunity for these students to showcase their concepts in art and design, work cohesively as a team, and demonstrate the creativity of their respective university departments. We are always excited to see the CONNECT design environments come to life from their abstract proposals to their final spaces on the show floor.
