Safety First

In the event of loss or damage to your property, you should report the claim immediately. But first, it's important to take steps to protect your property from additional damage. Below are tips to help you. Keep in mind, for a covered loss, your policy may provide reimbursement of reasonable expenses incurred for temporary repairs that protect your property from further damage.

Ways to Mitigate Damage:

  • Shut off the water after a plumbing leak
  • Secure your home after a burglary
  • Call the police after a theft
  • Call the fire department
  • Move or protect property to prevent further damage

Check your Chubb policy for additional details and requirements. Contact your claim adjuster or Chubb agent once you file your claim.

The more information we have about your loss, the better able we will be to adjust your claim. Although we manage thousands of claims every year, we treat each client the way we would want to be treated, with the same individualized care and attention.

Assessing the Damage: The Estimate

You may be asked to obtain a repair estimate from a local contractor. If an onsite inspection is needed, we will work with you to coordinate a time that is convenient for all. If you need assistance getting a repair estimate, we can help arrange for one of Chubb’s preferred contractor resources to provide one for you. While there are many benefits to Chubb’s preferred vendor network, the freedom to use whomever you like for repair estimates and restoration is yours. Whether you engage your preferred contractor or one of ours, we will review your estimate and come to an agreed price with the contractor. If at any time you have concerns about your estimate, we’ll work with your contractor to ensure you are fairly compensated for your covered damages. Additionally, if there are any changes to the initial scope of covered work or contractor costs - again, we'll treat you fairly.

Our Preferred Vendor Network: Starting Your Repairs

If you have covered water or fire damage to your property, we can arrange for one of our preferred vendors to immediately respond to help minimize damages and prepare your premises before any repairs begin. Once any immediate or ongoing damage is under control, it's time to begin the repair process. Depending on what you're more comfortable with, you may use your own contractor or find one from our preferred network. The choice is always yours. If you're not sure which way to go, we have highlighted some of the benefits of using our Preferred Vendor Network below:
