As our new Corporate Regional Manager for London, it seems only appropriate that Emma Bartolo is first in the hot seat for our Quick Fire Q&A
Tell us a bit about yourself
I’ve been at Chubb for nine years, joining as an Environmental Risk underwriter in Manchester before relocating to London in 2010. For the last four years I’ve been responsible for the UKI and Chubb Global Markets Environmental Risk portfolio.
What are you passionate about?
I’m the chair of Chubb’s Gender Equality Network and a passionate advocate for Diversity and Inclusion, both in and outside of Chubb.
So, why the new London region?
At Chubb, having true local presence and decision-making is at the heart of our proposition. Our regional structure, with dedicated teams covering Ireland, Scotland, the North and the Midlands has been key to our success. But although we have a huge corporate presence in London, we didn’t have a dedicated focus on the region. Now we’ve fixed that. The new London region will allow us to better capitalise on growth opportunities in what is arguably the UK’s largest regional marketplace.
What can we expect?
Our objective is to bring the experience and skills in our London headquarters to life for our many broker partners and clients. We have a diverse set of underwriting and distribution capabilities with a total of 18 separate underwriting teams, including well established lines such as Property, Casualty and Marine, and also emerging risk areas such as Cyber, Environmental Risk, and Terrorism. I’ll be making sure our stakeholders fully benefit from these.
As quickly as you can, what are your key areas of focus?
Our priority is growth! In particular, we want to build on our relationships with the many brokers in London who serve the middle market segment – including independent brokers. I want to ensure that we’re adaptable and relevant to our customers’ needs, that we continue to evolve our product suite and are making it easier for our broker partners to do business with us.
And finally, tell us one surprising fact about yourself
I regularly compete in Triathlon events and recently did a half Ironman. I’m also cycling to Paris in August from London – but I’m planning on catching the Eurostar back…
