Sonia B. Alfaro is an employment attorney in the Houston House Counsel office of Meaders & Alfaro. Ms. Alfaro has experience in litigating a wide range of employment matters, including claims arising under Title VII, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the American with Disabilities Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, National Labor Relations Act, as well as other federal and state laws. She also has a long standing record of providing seminars to a wide range of clients and commercial and professional institutions in various labor and employment law matters such Effective Discipline and Supervision, Sexual Harassment in the Workplace and Seminars on the Interaction between FMLA and ADA.
Besides her practice in labor and employment law, Ms. Alfaro has practiced in a wide range of areas in the legal field including commercial litigation, personal injury, medical malpractice, and intellectual property, among others. Another part of Ms. Alfaro's practice has focused on providing legal services to publicly traded financial institutions, including foreclosure and collection cases, torts, banking law, and consumer law matters such as the Truth in Lending Act and the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act.
Prior to joining Chubb's House Counsel Ms. Alfaro began her professional career at the law offices of Schuster Usera Aguilo & Santiago in Puerto Rico. There, her practice was exclusively dedicated to the practice of labor and employment law. Later she was recruited as an Associate Attorney in the Litigation Department of Jimenez Graffam & Lausell where she worked until 2004. From there, she founded an innovative law firm focusing on employment law and general litigation, where she was Managing Partner for twelve years.
