Role Purpose

Chubb has a digital transformation agenda and the EMEA region is undertaking the development of a broker portal application, B2C applications, plus innovation.

As a Digital Developer you will work as part of the EMEA Digital IT team. You will contribute to the development of new and existing applications for all lines of business.

Based on the business cases and the business processes of the customer you will develop use cases from the requirements and model these into high quality applications together with a small team based on the domain model.

You will develop workflows, integrations with web services and layout the user interface. You communicate progress with the customer, run show and tells, run workshops, and drive stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities

  • To work closely with other members of the EMEA Digital IT Team, providing development support to other Ignite product development teams regionally along with responsibility and accountability for the delivery of the core team’s own strategic project objectives, extending the capability of the system.
  • Adherence to all development and architectural standards. Where unsure, consultation with an appropriate team member is expected.
  • To provide considered development estimates for specified pieces of work
  • To produce clear documentation of technical design, with explanations of all the key design decisions
  • To provide technical handover documentation for support developers
  • To provide feedback on progress against plan to the wider team and the business, giving reasons for any delays and updates to estimates where required
  • Adherence to all regulatory and audit requirements, team processes and procedures


  • Be highly collaborative
  • Analytical thinker with the ability to devise solutions to business problems
  • A thorough understanding of the software development life cycle, including but not limited to customer requirements gathering, data modelling, application analysis, development, testing, documentation, system acceptance and post migration validation.
  • Experience in the design and programming of software from its inception, including UI design
  • Strong judgement, leadership, communication, diplomacy, collaboration and organisational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, being structured and accurate, and have the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers and subject matter experts
  • Independent, but with the ability and desire to work within a team
  • Delivery focus and comfortable with taking accountability
  • Positive attitude and be willing to make extra effort required to ensure that the Company delivers and maintains its reputation


  • Development experience
  • Experience developing web services, web service API’s, as well as implementing code to
  • Consume existing API’s
  • Experience working with Agile frameworks, e.g. Scrum
  • Experience providing operational support (e.g. troubleshooting reported issues, identifying root problems, developing solutions)
  • JAVA / C# and SQL development experience
  • You will be familiar with some (if not all) of the following; Javascript, Java, C#, HTML, CSS, UML, SQL, Oracle, BPMN, SOAP, REST, Agile/SCRUM, MVC4, iOs, Android
  • Experience working with any of the following; OpenText MBPN, OpenText Content Server, OpenText StreamServe, Sequence Kinetics, Progress Corticon
  • Experience with Mendix would be an advantage but full training will be given
