Facilitate underwriting process, supporting a group of Underwriters (in at least 2 product lines), including ownership of processes that could include an agreed level of underwriting authority.
Assist in the underwriting of allocated new business, renewals and endorsements through usage of standard pricing tools, renewal preparation & follow up and/or negotiation activity.
For all business and particularly non-standard, provides appropriate instructions and wording to the operations for processing, remains the entry point for those matters.
Liaise with brokers and internal departments for operations, credit control, claims and risk to resolve issues
Assists UW in building good working relationships with Brokers including:
Visit and negotiation to get submissions
According to the guidelines, authority levels and business strategy, you will have to quote and manage the submissions, ensure Operations (UA and SSC) are provided with all UW instructions necessary to appropriately and efficiently process the business
Portfolio management: Upon UW / LM request, study and analyze loss ratios and if required, manage cancellation of non-profitable policies on a monthly basis and make recommendations to the line of business manager.
Contribute to the preparation of the commercial plan together with line of business Mgr and the Sales & Distribution Mgr with the aim to create solid relationships with brokers and customers to reinforce business development and cross selling with other line of business.
Provide general assistance to underwriters for information follow up, exposure and loss analysis, broker and/or client visits and other duties as agreed with the business
Participates to the preparation and control of the annual business plan, budget and forecast.
Ensures booking instructions are provided in a timely manner so monthly forecasts are met.
Support the Branch Underwriters, daily and through and the participation to meetings with brokers, internal departments (e.g. P&C PSU, MSU, Credit Control).
Work in conjunction with Operations teams to ensure appropriate service is provided to the end customer, with efficient working practices in place, providing feedback to reduce rework or errors.
Work within the framework of high ethical and service standards
Multi-lingual – English + 1 or more Western European Languages preferred.
Flexibility on location and relocation within Europe preferred.
Service & process oriented with high attention to detail.
Analytical with capacity to learn more advanced underwriting skills.
Ability to develop strong internal relationships.
Min 2-3 years of experience in insurance (will consider high potential trainees as well)
Underwriting & Regulatory Compliance. Awareness of guidelines and regulatory requirements and understand how they impact the business. Able to apply processes and take appropriate action to ensure role is conducted in accordance with such guidelines & regulations.
Communication: Delivers clear and effective communication. Actively listens and takes responsibility for understanding others. Frequent Internal and external communication (with brokers) required
Good knowledge on insurance policy life cycle (issuance, booking, collections, renewals) or deep knowledge of Financial back office processes
Minimum 3 years' experience in Underwriting in Insurance Companies
Knowledge and understanding of policy wordings
