Michael Zeagman
Senior Underwriter, Private and NFP Management Liability, Financial Lines

Throughout my university career I valued an active academic and social experience. After graduating, I knew I wanted a career with a top employer that would continue to provide me with dynamic and interesting experiences. I joined Chubb’s Private and Not-for-Profit Management Liability team in 2011. Immediately it was clear that Chubb valued developing the expertise of its employees and crafting their skill sets. Within my first year, I attended Chubb’s Financial Lines Specialty School in the U.S., participated in ongoing development initiatives, and had countless hands-on learning experiences.  After 5 years with Chubb, no two days are the same, and I continue to enjoy all the learning experiences my role offers.

Maria Costiuc
Senior Underwriter, Life Sciences and Financial Institutions

In my fourth year at Queen’s, I began to look for a role that would be challenging, collaborative, and still allowed for work-life balance. I started my career in the Commercial Insurance department. Chubb’s Associate Program was the perfect transition for me coming out of university. In addition to developing a solid foundation of insurance knowledge through Chubb’s renowned training program, the program allowed me to leverage my strengths and further develop my skillset gained from my time at school. As an Underwriter within the Life Sciences team, I have worked with start-up companies, beginning with their clinical trials and all the way to the commercialization of their products. In addition to research and analysis, relationship management is key to an Underwriting role.  We work with a network of brokers to sell our products, so managing and fostering these relationships is crucial for long-term success. Overall, I apply a variety of skills and interact with diverse individuals on a daily basis. From reviewing contracts to engaging brokers, my role continues to challenge me each and every single day.

Jason McDonnell
Underwriter, Commercial Insurance

During my fourth year in university, I was unsure which industry I wanted to work in as I started thinking about my career ahead. In the fall of 2013, I had the opportunity to attend a Chubb information session and discovered Underwriting as a career path. It became apparent that it would be a role where I could apply the analytical and negotiation skills I developed from my time at school. It has been almost four years since I first joined Chubb’s Associate Program in the Commercial Insurance department. From marketing visits to industry events, my role gives me the opportunity to engage with brokers and grow our broker network in many different ways. There is nothing quite like the rush of winning a big deal! Today, I am proud to work for a results-oriented company that recognizes and rewards hard work, commitment, and collaboration. I look back to my time in university and cannot be happier to have chosen to begin my career at Chubb.
