Technical Risk Engineering

Our Technical Risks Engineering (TRE) function provides specialist support to our underwriters and claims personnel, delivering unbiased, succinct, accurate and timely information upon which decisions can be made.

This information may be either topic specific or a critique of the normal exposures associated with risk areas such as catastrophic perils, fire, property and technology. If necessary it extends to an analysis of profit with qualification of information by site visit. This latter element also extends to risk management and loss prevention.

The expertise we provide for our claims specialists includes an assessment of the cause of a problem and best practices for recovery. We also ensure a feedback loop to our underwriters, giving them valuable loss estimation information to continually develop our ability to provide clients with suitable and competitive cover.

Our engineers are located within our key underwriting offices and, combined with our supporting consultancy panel, have extensive industrial experience and knowledge. This covers a wide range of sectors and issues including property, mining, power and civil structures, creating an integrated team that is especially client and market focused. This expertise and experience extends across both property and machinery breakdown to heavy civils and operational policy covers.

We also work closely with Original Engine Manufacturers (OEMs) and third party suppliers, as well as contributing to and attending various industry seminars and conferences. Online knowledge sharing

Technical Risks Engineering complies with our company and industry best practices and provides an internet based software system which has the advantage of being available to clients via an “ACEPARTNER” secure access system. This system known as the TRE - QDE (Quality Document Exchange) provides a platform for an insured to exchange information and reporting with our company.

Functions allow approved individual plant managers and individuals with the ability to up/download reporting to amend, correct and support insurance engineering. Various plan, regional and management levels and access rights are imposed such that risk managers and brokers have access rights, ensuring a smooth work flow through the various review and approval stages of reporting.

To ensure continuing compliance with FSA requirements of accountability and responsibility, our quality systems feature document check in/out, review, approve and publish, all driven through task systems to deliver compliance with agreed protocols of work flow.
