Being a Good Neighbour Chubb Personal InsuranceBeing A Good Neighbour We expect that many of you take most of the physical precautions you can to protect your home. But having one or more neighbours
who are interested in and care about your home and your safety can be the icing on the cake. Being a good neighbour means more than just looking out for someone else. It means being pro-active:
- ESTABLISH TRUST with your neighbours on either side and two or three across the street. This means communicating often, keeping them apprised
of your schedules and ensuring you know theirs. Developing good relationships with your neighbours will permit you to ask
them to watch your home when you are not there and for you to do the same for them.
- LEAVE SPARE HOUSE KEYS with a neighbour. Having a good neighbour means you will never be led to hide a key outside! It will allow you to have regular
services such as plant maintenance, inspections and cleaning continue when you are away – reducing the number of people who
know you are gone. Neighbours can also gather your mail, newspapers, and flyers regularly and put them inside your home, as
well as inspect your home occasionally to ensure everything is fine.
- EDUCATE A NEIGHBOUR on the operation of your alarm system and ensure the roster of authorized PIN # holders is up-to-date with your provider
to avoid unpleasant experiences for those trying to help.
