Chubb Creates Underwriting Group to Drive Market Segment Opportunities
Emphasis Is Placed on Integrated Product and Service Solutions for Customers
WHITEHOUSE STATION, NJ, July 30, 2007 - The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies has created a commercial underwriting group to manage existing market segments as
well as drive the development of new and emerging segments.
James L. West, senior vice president of Chubb & Son and former manager of Chubb's Information and Network Technology segment,
has been named market segment underwriting manager.
Chubb has long focused on customer segments with products and services geared toward information and network technology companies,
life sciences companies, the energy sector and law firms, to name a few. The Market Segments Group will deepen Chubb's commitment
to these areas and increase its focus on more specialized segments, such as educational services, green energy, federal government
contractors and others.
"While Chubb provides insurance products and services to a wide range of commercial customers, our strength has been as a
niche player," West said. "The formation of this group enables us to deliver a more customer-focused approach, rather than
the traditional product-focused one. We will be able to better anticipate our customers' needs and deliver integrated and
seamless insurance solutions."
To support the Market Segment Group, Chubb has underwriters and loss control engineers in branch offices around the world
who are specially trained to understand the risks faced by commercial clients in key industry sectors.
"The combined resources of our Market Segment Group allow Chubb to harness its expertise in various commercial sectors and
develop more dynamic and flexible responses to the changing needs of our customers," West said.
The member insurers of the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies form a multi-billion dollar organization providing property
and casualty insurance for personal and commercial customers worldwide through 8,500 independent agents and brokers. Chubb's
global network includes branches and affiliates in North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia and Australia.
