Chubb Named a “Best Company for Multicultural Women”
WARREN, NJ, May 23, 2007-The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies has been named a "2007 Best Company for Multicultural Women" by Working Mother magazine. The designation recognizes employers that establish groundbreaking diversity policies and programs to encourage
the hiring and advancement of African-American, Hispanic, Asian-American and Native-American women.
"We are pleased to be recognized as one of the best companies for multicultural women," said Kathy Marvel, senior vice president
and chief diversity officer, Chubb & Son. "Chubb's success rests on its ability to create an inclusive work environment that
motivates all employees to reach their full potential. We will continue to seek ways to further strengthen our culture of
inclusion so that we can attract and retain the most talented and diverse group of employees to fill the evolving needs of
our customers. It just makes good business sense."
"Chubb is making a difference in the way corporate America views diversity and its multicultural employees," said Suzanne
Riss, editor-in-chief, Working Mother. "They're holding managers accountable for helping workplace diversity thrive. We
have the good fortune to live in one of the most culturally rich countries in the world, and Chubb recognizes that this richness
is a workplace asset."
In addition to Chubb's "Culture of Inclusion Policy," several corporate employee resource and local diversity groups at the
company help to address the concerns of multicultural women employees. These groups, which include the Minority Development
Council, Women's Development Council, Gay & Lesbian Employee Network and Asian American Business Network, act as leadership
training grounds, create mentoring opportunities and help identify external business opportunities. They also provide updates
to Chubb's senior leadership about diversity issues.
