Chubb Employee Receives Black Achievers Award
NEW YORK, NY, March 24, 2006 -- The Harlem YMCA last night honored Terri Lathan, a vice president with the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, for her
commitment to giving back to the community. Lathan received her award at the YMCA's 36th Annual National Salute to Black
Achievers in Industry Awards dinner at the New York Marriott Marquis.
Lathan has helped several youth who previously were in foster care to become self-sufficient, confident adults. Her other
volunteer work includes serving on the boards of trustees for the Roots and Wings Foundation, which helps foster care children
transition to independence, and the Volunteer Management Center based in Morristown, NJ. She also tutors through Literacy
Volunteers of America in Morris County and the Celebrity Read Program in Hudson and Essex counties.
At Chubb, Lathan is the Eastern specialty claim manager at the insurer's Florham Park, NJ, office. She began her career with
Chubb in 1994 and has held various positions in the Chubb's specialty claim department. Prior to joining Chubb, Terri was
a litigation attorney with McCargo & Arbula. a Detroit-based insurance defense firm; she was also a plaintiff attorney for
a legal firm in Dallas, TX. Terri earned a BA degree in political Science from Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, and her JD
degree from Texas Southern University in Houston. Lathan is a member of the American Bar Association and National Bar Association.
She was the recipient of the 2005 YWCA of Central New Jersey Tribute to the Women in the Industry Award.

Since 1971, the Harlem YMCA has honored black achievers for mentoring and guiding black youth. Proceeds from the awards dinner
fund the YMCA's Jackie Robinson Youth Center.
