ChubbWorks Provides Employment Practices Liability Training That Complies with New California AB 1825
WARREN, NJ, October 11, 2005—The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies has expanded ChubbWorksSM , its online site for employment practices liability training and other related tools, to include training that helps employers
comply with California’s new Assembly Bill (AB) 1825.
“In today’s litigious environment, employers recognize they are vulnerable to allegations of employment discrimination, wrongful
termination and sexual harassment,” said Catherine Padalino, vice president, Chubb & Son, and deputy employment practices
liability (EPL) insurance manager for Chubb Specialty Insurance. “AB 1825 has far-reaching implications for many employers
across the U.S., not just those based in Californa. The training offered by ChubbWorks further enhances a company’s overall defenses against potentially devastating liability litigation. It also complies with
the anti-harassment training required by the law.” A leading national law firm, Seyfarth Shaw LLP, has reviewed the ChubbWorks training and concluded that it meets the new statute’s substantive law and interactivity requirements.
California’s AB 1825 is intended to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace and to further support California’s Fair Employment
and Housing Act. AB 1825 applies to all employers with 50 or more employees that also have one or more employees based in
California. The training must be offered to all California employees with supervisory authority; initial training for all
supervisors must include two hours of anti-harassment training every two years, with a January 1, 2006, completion date.
New hires must complete training by July 1, 2006.
Chubb’s updated ChubbWorks training modules offer a two-hour training program as well as a specific California sexual harassment training bulletin as
required by AB 1825. A key component of Chubb’s Employment Practices Liability Loss Prevention Program, ChubbWorks includes interactive and informative training designed for managers and supervisors based on best practices for preventing
sexual harassment. This online service is free to all Chubb Employment Practices Liability Insurance customers and Chubb-appointed
producers. The training is provided in an interactive manner, and provides pre- and post-training questionnaires, online training
summaries, and sophisticated tracking of training and performance. Quarterly refresher training through Web-based bulletins
eliminates the need to retrain and provides training on an ongoing basis.
