Employers Can Protect Green Commuters Under New Chubb Travel Accident Policy
WARREN, NJ, April 24, 2012 – California companies can provide their employees with an extra incentive to become eco-friendly commuters. Through a business
travel accident policy from the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, these employers can now provide insurance protection should
an employee suffer a covered injury while traveling to work by carpool or van pool, mass transit or in an alternative-fuel
private-passenger vehicle.
All U.S. employees of California-based companies are eligible for this first-of-its kind coverage. Employers can add the optional
coverage to Chubb’s BTA 360˚, a global business travel accident insurance policy that also provides kidnap and ransom benefits,
identity theft and other emergency assistance services, and out-of-country medical coverage.
“California has long been an environmentally-conscious region, and now employers can provide their employees a benefit that
promotes eco-friendly transportation,” said Dominick Zenzola, vice president and employee benefit manager of Chubb Accident
& Health. “Chubb’s unique coverage offers employers a cost-effective way to help protect their employees regardless of whether
they are halfway around the world or right down the street.”
In California, 11.5 percent of commuters travel to work via carpools and van pools, and 5 percent use mass transit, according
to the 2010 U.S. Census Bureau’s American Commuter Survey.
The member insurers of the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies form a multi-billion dollar organization providing property
and casualty insurance for personal and commercial customers worldwide through 8,500 independent agents and brokers. Chubb’s
global network includes branches and affiliates in North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia and Australia. For more than
50 years, Chubb has offered accident and health insurance solutions to employer groups and credit card enhancements to financial
