Chubb Seeks to Stop Cargo Thieves in Their Tracks
WARREN, NJ, September 19, 2011— “It stops cargo thieves dead in their tracks,” said Pat Stoik referring to a system that the global marine manager at the
Chubb Group of Insurance Companies thinks will help contain a $30 billion-a-year crime wave that adds nearly 20% to the price
of consumer goods.
Chubb motor truck cargo liability customers who purchase a SteelSafe Truck Immobilizer (http://www.steelsafe.com.au) can have
their policy deductible waived up to $10,000 in the event a stolen load is not recovered after law enforcement is notified
in a timely manner.
According to SteelSafe, the system is the only patented product in the world that is designed to immobilize a vehicle while
it is in motion by slowly shutting down the vehicle’s air braking system and safely bringing it to a stop. The system’s integrated
GPS feature allows the stolen vehicle to be located and recovered. The unit can also secure a parked tractor/trailer or bus,
thus preventing it from being stolen.
The member insurers of the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies form a multi-billion dollar organization providing property
and casualty insurance for personal and commercial customers worldwide through 8,500 independent agents and brokers. Chubb’s
global network includes branches throughout North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia and Australia.
