Chubb Technical Risk Team Will Help Protect Homes From Emerging and Complex Threats
WARREN, NJ, August 4, 2011 – The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies has created a technical risk team to help its more than 140 residential appraisal
and loss prevention specialists quickly respond to emerging and complex risks they encounter at customers’ homes.
The team consists of six of Chubb’s most senior loss prevention experts from around the country, each with extensive knowledge
of risks prevalent in his or her region. Team members have acquired specialist designations through a rigorous program of
internal and external coursework and on-the-job training. Their specialties include catastrophe management; infrared thermography;
fire protection; security systems; and historic homes. Team members also have expertise in water intrusion, collector vehicle
storage and green building techniques.
Projects the team has worked on include how to best reduce the frequency and severity of losses resulting from electrical
problems—the leading cause of fire-related claims—evaluating wildfire- safe communities and the use of hail-resistant roofing
materials.
“This blue-ribbon team is Chubb’s go-to group for solving some of the toughest problems we encounter,” said Scott Spencer,
senior vice president and worldwide appraisal and loss prevention manager for Chubb Personal Insurance. “Through their more
than 120 years of collective experience and knowledge, Chubb’s technical risk team members enable us to identify emerging
risks and implement loss prevention strategies more quickly.”
Established more than 30 years ago, Chubb’s Home Appraisal and Loss Prevention Department is the largest unit of its kind
among personal insurance companies. Chubb’s appraisers visit more than 65,000 homes worldwide each year and are highly trained
in all aspects of fine residential construction, building codes, replacement cost valuation and loss prevention. Chubb offers
a variety of other services to help personal insurance customers prevent losses related to wildfires, identity theft, vacant
second homes and art and other collections.
In addition to its 140 residential appraisal and loss prevention specialists, Chubb employs more than 350 risk engineers worldwide
who serve commercial customers.
The member insurers of the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies form a multi-billion dollar organization providing property
and casualty insurance for personal and commercial customers worldwide through 8,500 independent agents and brokers. Chubb’s
global network includes branches and affiliates in North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia and Australia. Chubb is a worldwide
