New Online Tool Helps Organizations Prepare for Employment-Related Lawsuits
WARREN, NJ, November 10, 2009 - The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies has added a new tool to ChubbWorksSM, its online employment practices loss prevention
resource for commercial and not-for-profit customers. HR AcuityTM On-Demand enables an organization to establish a transparent
and structured employee relations and investigation process that fosters the consistency and compliance required to address
accusations of misconduct and other potentially litigious situations.
"Discrimination and retaliation charges are up, as is the risk of an employment practices lawsuit," said Catherine Padalino,
vice president, Chubb & Son, and employment practices liability (EPL) product manager for Chubb Specialty Insurance. The number
of discrimination claims filed in 2008 with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission jumped 15%, their greatest annual
leap ever. Retaliation claims increased 23% from the prior year, while age claims climbed by 29%, and gender and religion
claims rose 14%.
"Successfully defending an EPL lawsuit requires careful documentation of all employee relations matters and a methodology
for conducting internal investigations," said Padalino. "Through our relationship with HR Acuity, we are able to offer our
EPL insurance customers a world-class tool to help them better manage these risks. By implementing a consistent approach
to managing incidents and behaviors, companies are better equipped to properly document employee relations issues, respond
to inappropriate conduct and investigate claims of wrongdoing."
HR AcuityTM On-Demand provides organizations with:
- a tracking component to help pinpoint recurring misconduct problems;
- a five-step methodology for conducting investigations into allegations of employee misconduct; and
- readily available documentation to assist in producing objective, defendable results, if needed.
Chubb EPL customers can access HR AcuityTM On-Demand for a reduced fee for their first year's subscription; in addition, Chubb
will reimburse a portion of the annual fee for as long as the customer subscribes to this service. To register for ChubbWorks,
