Claim & Recovery Chubb Commercial Insurance
Integrity. Promptness. Fairness. Chubb has earned a reputation for our equitable approach to claim settlement. Our goal is to respond to any claim within
24 hours of being notified of the loss and, once settlement is agreed upon, to make payment within 48 hours.
Chubb Marine Services
Our centralized Marine Services Unit (MSU) of claim, recovery and loss control specialists deliver exceptional service to
our marine clients all over the world. Our worldwide network of claim representatives and surveyors ensure there is a Chubb
professional handling the claim and expediting the recovery process no matter where a loss occurs.
Foreign Claim Facilities Chubb has fully staffed Marine Claim Offices strategically located to respond to customer needs around the world. These offices
are available for the reporting of claims, assignment of local Claim Representatives or surveyors and answering questions
pertaining to marine claims.
Salvage and Reconditioning Our claim adjusters work with independent surveyors who are well versed in the assessment of the cause and extent of damage
as well as the practicalities of reconditioning damaged merchandise. We can often provide alternative methods of disposing
of damaged merchandise, resulting in lower loss amounts, greater satisfaction and reduced insurance costs.
Marine Recovery The Marine Recovery section of MSU pursues subrogation against carriers, as well as monitoring and assisting in the subrogation
activities of our overseas Claim Offices. Chubb is well recognized as a leader in the marine insurance industry for prompt
and equitable recoveries, and high frequency of successful subrogation activities.
Protecting Rights of Subrogation Chubb’s recovery staff has a thorough knowledge of International Conventions that effect recovery amounts and takes full advantage
in order to maximize recoveries – that can help reduce insurance costs. These International Conventions are The Hague Rules,
known as the Carriage of Goods by Sea Act (COGSA) in the United States and the Carriage of Goods by Water Act (COGWA) in Canada;
The Hague-Visby Rules; The Hamburg Rules for waterborne shipments; and the Warsaw Convention for international air shipments.
